So, to sum it up, we LOVE Madrid. That's it... no more post... we just love Madrid.
Just kidding.... so we flew into Madrid yesterday. Our flight was delayed, but we made it here around 4 and hit the ground immediately. We hopped on the big red tour bus and took it around the city. We did make stops to visit the Prado Museum and for some tapas though:

After that... we let the bus take us around and we went back to our hotel. Here are some cool pics of the city from our first day though:
Today, we accidentally slept in until 10am, but we managed to hit every sight we wanted to see. We started off with a visit to the Palacio Real:
We also checked out the cathedral next to the Palacio:
We were starving by this point, so we stopped for some tapas (and sangria!) at a cute restaurant overlooking Madrid. The food wasn't amazing (JC discovered the glory that is fried calamari on bread... with NOTHING else on the sandwich... apparently it's served a lot over here, we saw it often), but the tortilla Espanola and the sangria were pretty good:

Our Madrid card (similar to the London card) included a trip on the teleferico... we got to see the sights of Madrid from the air:
After that, we ran to the stadium for the Real Madrid soccer team:
And wrapped up the sight seeing at a couple of museums... the Thyssen & the Reina Sofia. We saw TONS of Picasso's, Dali's, Miro's. Here's Picasso's Guernica (I was finally allowed to shoot pictures in a museum!!):

We wrapped up the night with some awesome tapas and are getting ready to hit the road to Barcelona.
