I've been surprised to find that Florence is ridiculously crowded. I don't know why I had it in my mind that it would be somewhat tranquil, but no, not so much. I guess it's just preparing us for what it's going to be like in Rome. So day 1 was the day we arrived via train from Venice (where we got the workout of our lives dragging our suitcases up and down the steps over the canals to get to the train station). We took the big red bus tour to get an idea of our surroundings like we had for the rest of the cities. Since most of my pics from that day were taken on top of the bus, they're not that amazing, but here goes... :)
The bus took us up to the little town of Fiesole just outside Florence to get a view of the Tuscan hillsides (gorgeous!):

Back in Florence... a view of the Golden Bridge (lots of jewelry stores there):

Look at how adorable this bus is:

For dinner, since it was the Bicentennial celebration for Mexico, JC wanted to celebrate. As luck would have it, we saw advertisements for a Mexican restaurant on all of our maps that we got earlier that day... so we had Mexican food for dinner!

I have to be honest, it felt so weird to be smelling/eating Mexican food in the middle of Italy... but they did have some of the best margaritas I've ever had:

Day 2 was even more amazing and I'm downloading the pictures now (there are lots)... I'm going to try to do another blog post when we get back from dinner.
