Unfortunately I don't have any fun pictures to add to the blog this week, but I felt it was time to update because there have been some stuff going on.
We've officially hit the 15 week mark and now the baby is the size of a navel orange :). I can't grow vegetables or fruit without killing them, but apparently I am capable of growing a baby of similar size. While JC and I were at the market the other day I made sure to stop by and pick up an orange to get an idea of how big the baby is... that was bizarre because it seems SO big. Yes, I am aware that it's going to get bigger than that ;)
Here are the stats on the baby now:
- Weight: 2.5 oz
- Length: 4 inches
- Big milestones: baby can now see light through it's eyelids
We've received our first baby clothing gifts and it's really weird to think that soon we're going to have something to fit into into those tiny clothes. Big thank you to Iyenni and Fer for their adorable tshirt and super soft bib, Liliana and Robert for the sweet duck outfits, and my mom and dad for the tshirts from their recent trip to Seattle.
Not that we'll start decorating any time soon, but we have started daydreaming about the baby's room... or at least I have for sure. JC's planning out the layout of our house to accommodate a play area ;). We're not buying anything until we know if it's a boy or a girl though (5 more weeks!)
How I'm doing:
- Weight: +1 from where I started (sounds like I'm in a good spot from what I've read)
- Cravings: Still mac & cheese! I'm actually making my own tomorrow with buffalo sauce and blue cheese... if only you could see how excited I am. Though the 12 pack that my friend Ryan sent me has also been an amazing highlight of the past couple weeks!
- Clothes: Everything I have still fits, though I did buy a belly band so that I could wear my pants unbuttoned when it feels uncomfortable. Last week I went with one button undone, and this week it was 2. I'm so much more comfortable this way.
- Am I showing?: The answer is still "yes and no". If you didn't know I was pregnant, you either wouldn't notice or you'd think I've been eating too many desserts. I can certainly tell that I'm starting to get thicker around the middle though. JC says my belly is getting harder. I'm not loving how it looks right now and I can't wait for it to be a little more obviously pregnant.
- Weeks until our next doctor's appointment: 1!
- How I'm feeling: MUCH better! Today was the first day where I nearly forgot I was pregnant (I didn't think that actually happened and would laugh when I read other pregnant moms saying that). I still get tired very easily, still get hungry more often, but the nausea has eased up dramatically and the headaches are fewer and far between. (*knocking on wood so I don't jinx it*)
-Other: I started prenatal yoga after a 2 month break from any yoga class! Needless to say, I LOVE it. Unfortunately my flexibility is beyond gone... it's like I never did yoga before being pregnant. But, I like it because the classes are smaller (so more teacher attention... and more/better massages!), more focus on relaxation (the days I feel the best are definitely yoga days), and an intense focus on connecting with the baby and appreciating the process. I think I started to love the process a little bit more when I started yoga because of the focus on how amazing this whole thing is. The other fun part is that my favorite yoga teacher not only teaches the prenatal class, but she as well is newly pregnant... she's only a week ahead of me! I don't know her too well, but it's nice to have someone to talk to at least once a week that is basically going through the exact same spot I am.
And that's about it... JC deserves a huge shout out for how amazing he's being. I know I'm being a pain with all the weird food issues I've been having, but he's taken them all in stride and has always been willing to eat what I'm craving. I'm so lucky I can't even stand it :)
Hopefully we'll update soon (and belly pictures soon too)... probably after our next appointment.
Lauren
